Trade-only bed bank Sunhotels has appointed its first designated UK sales team, refreshed its website and is offering agents the chance to win a £500 voucher as it looks to double UK turnover in the next year.
Paul Hewer, regional
director of sales, has appointed Darren Phillips to look after the north of England. Phillips was previously regional account manager at TravelCube. Sunhotels has also recruited

Sarah Woodford, who worked as a business development manager at Advantage Travel Centres for six years, for the south and Wales. Hewer wouldn’t reveal
SunHotel’s turnover, but said his trade plans should help to double it over the next 12 months.
THEME PARK
Ocean Explorer attraction to open at SeaWorld San Diego in 2017
SeaWorld San Diego will open a multimillion-dollar Ocean Explorer attraction in spring 2017. The attraction will combine multiple aquariums,
three rides and digital technologies designed to educate visitors and inspire them to “do their bit” to protect ocean life.
As an incentive, Sunhotels
is entering all UK and Ireland agents who make a booking in
the next month into a prize draw to win £500 worth of vouchers for accommodation anywhere in the world. “We want to be much more visible with the UK trade – we’ll be going to most of the consortia conferences and roadshows and considering fam trips,” said Hewer. “Being smaller helps us do
little things, like the ‘get through January’ packs with Red Bull
we sent to agents. We are big on customer service and can put together commercials for agents.” Agents wanting to find out more
should fill in the agent registration form at
Sunhotels.com Sunhotels was set up in 2002
to provide Scandinavian agents with hotel content and now offers almost 80,000 properties in 157 countries. Beach content in the Balearics, Canaries and Florida is the brand’s core range, but it also
offers city and long-haul product.

“Guests of all ages are going to love this fun,
interactive and educational new area of the park,” said John Reilly, president of SeaWorld San Diego. The signature ride sees visitors transported through tunnels underneath new aquariums in ‘submarines’, known as research pods. Ocean Explorer will also feature a ‘wave swinger’ ride, where guests will fly through thousands of bubbles in suspended chairs. Do Something Different offers a joint SeaWorld and Aquatica California ticket for £65 per adult, giving
unlimited admission to both parks for seven days.
