Travel gets dirty to deliver clean water
A team of 23 people from across the travel industry is gearing up to take part in a gruelling physical challenge to raise money for clean water charity Just a Drop – and is looking for more recruits.
The team, led by C&M
Recruitment director Barbara Kolosinska and Monarch sales director Gary Anslow, will brave mud, ice and electric shocks as they tackle the Tough Mudder London West event on April 30. The money raised by team members will go towards helping Just a Drop bring clean and safe water to the community in the Zambian village of Nsunka. Anslow explained: “Barbara completed a Tough Mudder last year, and she suggested we organise a wider industry team. It seemed like a good idea at the time, though having watched a few videos, it seems less so now!” Kolosinksa added: “Although we
have 23 in the team so far, we’d love more to join in and make it as big a travel industry event as possible while raising money for a great cause. Agents, operators, suppliers – please sign up, and if you can’t, then please sponsor us.” Tough Mudder events are designed to push participants to

signed up, with five members of the team including chief executive Duncan Horton, managing director Stuart Parish and managing editor Robin Searle taking part. Other industry brands
represented include Sunvil, G Adventures, Club Med, Trafalgar, Travelzoo, Travel Trade Consultancy, Bedsonline, James Villas and The Cruise Portfolio. Just a Drop’s Brendan Hanlon said: “We know what the team are
about to put themselves through, but their efforts will make a huge difference as we continue our mission to reduce child mortality by delivering accessible, clean, safe
water where it is needed most.” › If you are interested in taking part, email Gary Anslow or Barbara Kolosinska on gary.

Travel Weekly’s Stuart Parish takes on ‘Magnificent Seven’
One of the Travel Tough Mudder team is having to put in even more training than most, as the event forms part of an epic fundraising effort that will see him complete a ‘Magnificent Seven’ physical

challenges over seven months. Last year, Travel Weekly Group managing director Stuart Parish took part in the 22-mile Man v Mountain adventure challenge and raised nearly £7,000 in association with the Abta Benevolent Fund to help Abta LifeLine support Mia Austin, a former Co-op travel agent who has locked-in syndrome. This year, Stuart is stepping it up several notches. In addition to the Travel Tough Mudder, he will be completing Man v Mountain again, two half-marathons, the London Triathlon, the Nuclear Rush
event and even a bespoke ‘triathlon’ on board Carnival Vista. And this time he’s raising money for a Just a Drop project at Molemuni School in Makueni County, Kenya. Stuart said: “The cost for the
water tank at Molemuni School is £7,700 and at the very least I’d like to raise £3,850 to get halfway there, or maybe with the industry’s generosity we could make it the whole way!” › Read more about Stuart’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ challenge at
