We have been using flower essences since 1987 as a tool to help the clients of our pharmacy who are ill, or ill at ease, to reach the deeper cause of disease. We have noticed, happily, that flower essences are becoming better known in Switzerland.

Karma Clear, Psychic Protection and Sweet Dreams, as well as the wonderful Sacred Space Spray, are here the most loved combinations from Findhorn Flower Essences, in supporting people during these times of intense, deep processes and changes that are affecting human beings and the planet as a whole.

In our function as a flower essence distributor we are also working intensely with the Swiss legal system, to uphold the freedom for therapists to continue to use and prescribe flower essences for their clients, and for all people to be able to use flower essences themselves. At this time, it is a big challenge for the “Swiss Flower Essence Family” not being allowed to show a flower essence book together with the essences nor to be able to send them out together. Nevertheless, we are enthusiastic and are full of optimism. Most of all, we feel deep gratitude to the plant kingdom when working with or distributing flower essences.

Translating literally as “Dónall of the moon”, the shop was the brainchild of Nick Greaves and Anne Sweeney. According to Nick

“We wanted to create the sort of shop

we ourselves would have liked to find in Kildare. We realised that Kildare is not big enough to support a real specialist or ‘niche’ shop so we needed to keep as broad a range of products as possible whilst, at the same time, providing a haven for those who are interested in spirituality, complementaryhealth care and a wholistic approach to life. To coin a phrase we were going for ‘mind, body, spirit’.”

There are some who would argue that Kildare Town fits the old adage “it used to be a one- horse town but then the horse died” and certainly most would agree that it’s a bit under- developed as a commercial centre. So perhaps it’s not the most obvious place to set up an “alternative gift shop”. Notwithstanding, in May of 2005 Dónall na Gealaí opened for business.
