s promised, we are delighted to have given birth to our annual journal, which
seems to have metamorphosed into more of a magazine. “Sacred spaces” is the overall theme we chose for this issue. Judging by the big demand for products that deal with this concern, we hope the subject matter here presented will help to illumine and educate.
Protecting and caring for the environment in all its manifestations is of paramount importance to most people these days. And while we are not addressing issues of ‘the environment’ directly, we are attempting to help people to be healthy in body, mind and soul, to grow in consciousness and thereby to take responsibility, each in our own way, for maintaining and reclaiming sacred space, within and without.
While preparing the newsletter, I sought shamanic wisdom, asking for a direct experience of sacred space. I journeyed to a vast cathedral whose vaulted ceilings gave space for the angelic choir to join in mass, to an earth lodge, where the moist darkness and secure space allowed for a withdrawal from the outer world and the ‘space’ to venture into the depths of the unconscious mind; into the past, as a young child, moulding earth to create an imaginary home in which to role play ‘families’, then onto a high mountain top to the freedom of the wide open spaces. I learned that space creates space for the imagination to soar, that space unites the elements. I learned that it is a mystery. And, like TIME, its qualities appear to shift and the range of experiences we encounter may shift with it – times of beauty, times of miracles, times when the heart opens, leading to unexpected revelations of love and perfection. 2
