extension of the pre-engineering work carried earlier this year, is worth about €55 million and is part of a €125 million investment in the reconstruction of Arkhangelsk’s board department. It includes an OptiConcept M

board machine wet end, a number of improvements to the drying section, a completely new dry end and a machine control system upgrade. Target of the rebuild is to increase production by 30 per cent. The start-up of the rebuilt machine is scheduled for the second half of 2018.

Vesa Simola, EMEA Area

President of Valmet, said: “Valmet’s OptiConcept M board making line focuses on low operating costs combined with energy-efficient and flexible production of high-quality board grades. We have a number of excellent references verifying the

targeted outcome. Furthermore, our uniquely wide scope of offering differentiates us from the competitors. The project continues our good cooperation with Arkhangelsk – we have earlier delivered several pulp and paper technologies to them, latest being the pulp mill upgrade and two

Carta Fabril tissue line to include world’s largest Yankee

The world’s largest steel Yankee is part of an order from Carta Fabril in Brazil for an Andritz PrimeLineST W22 tissue machine for its mill at Anápolis. The PrimeDry Steel Yankee has a diameter of 22 feet and thus is the largest for tissue worldwide. The combination with the steam-heated hood enables efficient drying with substantial energy savings and safe operation. The steam- heated hood is equipped with an innovative automatic cleaning system and a dust removal system. The order also includes

modern refiner lines.” The 7-metre wire width BM2

produces fluting and kraftliner grades with a basis weight range of 90-200 g/sqm. The design speed for the new parts is 1,000 m/min, providing annual production of about 330,000 tonnes.

the complete stock preparation plant, which processes 100 per cent eucalyptus short fibre. The Andritz tissue machine will

have a design speed of 2,100 m/min and a width of 5.55m. It

will use 100 per cent renewable energy generated from biomass and converted into steam. Carta Fabril produces the

complete product range of tissues.

Two Advantage NTT tissue lines including stock preparation equipment and automation systems have been ordered from Valmet by Sofidel America for its greenfield project at Circleville in Ohio. “We have a strong focus on the most innovative and high performance technologies and see this as an investment for the future which allow us to take the next step into the premium quality segment,” says Luigi Lazzareschi, chief executive of Sofidel.
