Children’s Progress: How will I know how my child is doing?

At St. Mary’s Priory we recognise that assessment is an integral part of the teaching/ learning process. It is a record of success and a means of planning. It ensures continuity and progression enabling us to record achievements in a standardised way. Each child has an individual literacy and numeracy target. We aim to involve the children in their own assessment in order to achieve effective learning and build confidence. Termly assessments in Maths/ English/Science and RE are added to the children’s individual tracking grid. This assessment tool is reviewed by management once a term. Parent/Teacher Consultations are held termly for you to look at your child’s work and discuss his/her progress with the class teacher. At the end of the Summer Term parents receive a formal written report on their child’s progress throughout the year. There is a copy of our SATs results for the last academic year at the back of this prospectus and also on the website. You are always welcome to make an appointment to see your child’s teacher or the head teacher if you have concerns about your child’s progress or welfare in school.
