As St. Mary’s Priory Schools are Catholic, we regard Religious Education as a vital part of school life; an area which encompasses everything we do at school. Religious Education goes on all the time because more important than what we say is what we are and what we do. At the same time, to build up a loving relationship with God and our fellow human beings, definite instruction must be imparted, and 2½ hours per week or 10% of the timetable is set aside for this. Parents are invited to attend assemblies, together with school Masses and other special liturgies arranged throughout the year. Children entering the first year Junior class normally receive their First Holy Communion. This is arranged at Parish level and supported by the school. A special celebratory Mass is arranged for our First Holy Communicants in June. There are 2 assemblies for collective worship and celebrating individual achievements each week in both schools. St Mary’s has close links with 3 parishes - St Ignatius, St John Vianney and St Thomas More.

Equal Opportunities

At St. Mary’s Priory Catholic Schools we fully support a policy of equal opportunities for all our children, regardless of gender, race, nationality or cultural background.

As outlined in our Mission Statement we, as Catholics, believe that all human beings are equal in the sight of God:

• We aim to give positive images of the family and family life •

Different cultures, languages and customs are all accorded respect and esteem

• Every subject and activity within the school is open to both boys and girls • Books and resources in the school are chosen so that they reflect our commitment to equal opportunities.

School Fund

We ask parents for voluntary contributions. The amount is per family per school year and can be found at the back of this prospectus. This can be paid in a lump sum or in two donations.
