Parental Involvement in School Activities

The Parent Staff Association of St. Mary’s Priory Schools is a small Committee which works in partnership with parents, children, teachers and staff of both Infant and Junior Schools to support everyone in the school community. All parents/ carers of present pupils have automatic membership. All new parents/carers are invited to join the committee. Meetings are held every half term and you are invited to meet the current members and have lots of fun organising events to fundraise for the schools.

The aims and objectives of the PSA are to raise funds for curricular and non-curricular activities, to provide resources to support our schools, staff, parents and most importantly, the children. They organise social events, raffles and fun days. Our schools are very appreciative of all the efforts made to support our children’s learning in this way. If you would like to become more involved with the PSA or can help in any way, please contact the school who will put you in contact with a member of the current Committee. They welcome parents/carers who have new ideas and value their support.

Parent/Carer Volunteers

We also value parental involvement in school. Volunteers help with reading, swimming and class outings. Participation in these activities requires parents to have a DBS check. This must be agreed with the class teacher, who in turn will inform the School Business Manager and an appointment will be made for you to apply for the DBS check. In addition parents are invited to attend open evenings, curriculum meetings, other meetings of various kinds and all religious events. Parental supervision of reading and other homework assignments is very valuable. The school gates are open early morning and again at 3.10pm. Parents visiting the school should always go to the Main Office to sign in. Teachers may be seen by appointment. The office is open between 8.30am and 4.00pm. For the smooth running of the schools it is essential that both pupils and parents abide by the rules and regulations of the Schools.

Complaints

Should you have any complaints, in the first instance please contact the class teacher or member of staff involved. If the matter is unresolved, contact the Headteacher. Should the complaint refer to the Headteacher, please put it in writing addressed to the Chair of Governors and leave in the school office.

The Governors follow the Diocese of Westminster’s Complaints Procedure which can be found on our website. www.stmarysrcn15.ik.org

We look forward to working in partnership with you and hope that your children will be happy at St. Mary’s Priory.
