Earlier this year Close Brothers launched a new division – Close Brothers Technology Services – that focuses on helping businesses with their technology requirements, from acquisition and funding to ongoing management and recovery


To find out more, The Business Magazine caught up with Close Brothers Technology Services’ Martin Cadby, who is responsible for the Thames Valley and Solent regions.


What does Close Brothers Technology Services do?


In a nutshell, we work with business owners to understand what technology is right for their business to ensure it’s set up for future growth. This includes partnering with businesses to fully understand the total cost of their technology and providing guidance on the technology best suited to help them meet their growth targets.


We also look at opportunities to release capital from a business’ existing technology to help with cashflow. It’s a straightforward way of accessing the value of technology already on a company’s balance sheet while still being able to use it.


What does a typical customer look like?


It’s difficult to say because the size of a business doesn’t always dictate how much technology it requires but typically most of the businesses we deal with have a turnover more than £10 million annually and have 100 employees or more.


And because we deal with technology, we’re sector agnostic.


How do you work?


I start by providing a consultation, which focuses on getting to know a business’ technology set-up in more detail. From there I can start making suggestions and recommendations about what they might need. There are times when a business is doing all the right things and they don’t need our help at the time, but for those who do


need some assistance, we work with them to understand what the right technology solution is for them.


This may range from guidance on how to purchase the right technology at the right cost through to identifying the right funding solution for that business, which can help remove IT becoming a drain on a business’ capital.
