Former trucker Paul is villages’ new vicar

LORRY-driving reverendPaul Kish is looking forward to his new full- time job as the vicar of Yalding, Laddingford and Collier Street. The father of four moves into the

parish with wife Anna at the end of August, setting up home at Yalding Vicarage. It follows a period of 15 years as a self-supporting, unpaid minister, helping parishes without a vicar. He will be familiar to congrega-

tions at Boxley and Detling and also at Sutton Valence School, where he has also been a teacher, chaplain and head of department. Rev Kish says he is now looking

forward to putting down roots, al- though he admits working has kept him in the “real world”. “Under my cassock I’ve still got

the soul of a lorry driver,” he laughs. Rev Kishwas born in Ilkley,York-

shire, and trained as a priest in 1996. He moved to his wife’s native Kent, and the family currently lives in Goudhurst. He has two daughters at univer-

with us, albeit a testing time as any Interregnum is, andwe wish him the very best of luck and many prayers for his next journey.” Rev Collville thanked the congre-
