activities or making new friends. The many clubs and organisations in the Malling Action Partnership area cater for a wide range of interests and offer a warm welcome to newcomers, so why not give them a try? Details of regular meetings are listed on this page.

Saturday, July 23 Teston and Wateringbury Nursery Group 50th year anniversary will be held on Teston Village Green, 11am to 2pm. All are welcome to help celebrate this momentous occasion. Starting with the children’s sports day followed by cream teas, fresh strawberries, ice-cream, coconut shy, marble game, tombola, raffle prizes and much more.

East Malling Summer Fayre and Flower Festival. Organized this year by the Friends of St James. The theme will be Noah and his Ark. Held in both the church and the institute. Usual stalls, and lunches available.


Sunday, July 24 West Malling Farmers’ Market from 9.30 to 1.30, High Street, West Malling.


East Malling Singers rehearse on Wednesday evenings, 8pm to 10pm, at St James the Great Church, East Malling.


Kings Hill Rotary meets every Monday at 7.30pm at the Spitfire Pub.


Chip Productions Drama Group meets Fridays at 7.30pm at West Malling Village Hall.


Malling Photographic Society meets every Tuesday at West Malling Village Hall at 8pm.


The Heath Players meet at the East Malling Institute, Mill Street, at 8pm on Fridays.


Malling Rotary meets Tuesdays at 6.30pm at Spadework, Teston Road, Offham.


Spadework Farmers’ Market is on the second Saturday of the month from 10am to 1pm at Spadework, Teston Road. For more details, see www.spadework.net.


Malling Community Choir meets every Tuesday at West Malling Baptist Church, 7.15pm to 8.45pm. £2 per adult, children free.


Wateringbury Flower Club meets every third Wednesday of the month ( with the exception of June at The Institute Hall, East Malling, doors open at 7.00pm for start at 7.45pm.


Monday, July 25 Police public engagement meeting outside Kings Hill School, 3.15pm to 3.45pm. The PCSO will be available to speak to you about any concerns you may have


Every Thursday in August Cream teas at Wateringbury Church, Tonbridge Road from 2pm to 4pm. Come along and enjoy home-made cakes and scones in the beautiful village church.

Sunday, August 7 Wateringbury Footpaths Group walks. Go along and join the summer walks organised by an informal group who enjoy the local countryside. Walkers should meet at Yalding Station at


Malling Stamp Club meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Clout Institute, West Malling High Street, at 7.30pm.


East Malling Women’s Institute meets at the East Malling Institute behind the King and Queen pub on the third Monday of every month, 7.45pm to 9.45pm.


Malling Art Society meets every Thursday at Offham Village Hall, 8pm to 10pm.


LeyARA meets on the second Thursday of the month at 2pm at the Leybourne Village Hall. Speaker, raffle and refreshments.


Craft and chat group Drop-in. Wednesdays, 10am to noon, East Malling Centre, East Malling.


Crafty Chin-waggers. Craft and chat meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.


19:30 to 23:00 in the Village Hall, Butchers Lane, Mereworth.


Malling District U3A Monthly meetings are held at Ryarsh Village Hall, starting at 2pm, on the fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the year.


Baby and toddler group meets every Wednesday at St James the Great, East Malling. Lots of fun for all children and babies. Starts at 1.30pm.

Mereworth church children’s choir meets every Wednesday. The children’s choir is a free after- school group which rehearses at 6.30pm. Parents welcome. Conductor: Stephen Thomas, 01732 321114. Y1 and up – no need to pre-book.


Addington Bridge Club meets every Tuesday from 7pm in the sports pavilion, Park Road.


Junior ParkRun The Manor Park, West Malling, Junior ParkRun starts at 9am with a series of 2k runs for children aged four to14, every Sunday.


Adult 5k runs


Leybourne Lakes Country Park, Larkfield. Adult 5k runs are held every Saturday, starting at 9am. The runs are free of charge all you need to do is register your details at: www.parkrun.org.uk/register

Wednesday, September 21 Wateringbury History Society. The first speaker of the new programme is Robert Sackville- West, whose talk “Disinherited”, is about female members of his family who, through various misdemeanours, have been ‘cast out’ of Knole Park. Visitors welcome (£3.50) at the village hall, 7.40pm for 8pm.

Sunday, October 16 A concert at St Mary’s Church, West Malling, featuring the Eynsford Concert Band and Malling Community Choir. The concern is a repeat of their very successful "Last Night of the Proms" concert held a couple of years ago. Adult tickets are £10, children go free. The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets available from community choir members.


Can you help?


VOLUNTEERS are needed to help at Let’s Do Lunch – a senor lunch club based in The Dorcas Centre, Swallow Road, Larkfield.


The club is run in partnership with West Malling Baptist Church and Dynamic Future Together community interest company and provides activities and a light lunch in a friendly atmosphere for seniors.


Help is needed with lunches, driving and general assistance.


If you can spare three hours on a Thursday from 10.45am to 1.45pm and enjoy helping others, please contact 07434 150922.
