Glasgow Science Centre has record year for events

Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) is a powerful dynamo for events in the city. Its corporate events team has had one of its most successful years for business and corporate events since GSC opened 15 years ago. For 2015 and 2016, the team, headed up by Judy Rae, increased revenues by 17 per cent compared with the previous financial year. The centre combines business and corporate

events alongside themed dinners, giving delegates a science experience. Last year, the centre hosted a range of events such as the Scottish Labour Party Conference, the All- Energy Civic Reception, BAFTA Young Gamers, Marketing Society Star Awards, IPC Swimming

GSC has launched its new Corporate

Science products that integrate and combine entertainment, themes and experiences to elements of science. The centre is introducing three new dinner

offers: Science of Whisky; Food for Thought and Dine among the Stars, where the food and drink menus will have a scientific-related theme. With access to a talented pool of scientists, GSC can also offer a range of themed live demonstrations. “In 2015, we made a strategic decision to work and align GSC with companies and the

key economic growth sectors for Glasgow and Scotland to develop our core corporate business. By doing this, we were delighted to exceed our ambitious growth targets in the first year, which as a charitable organisation, has allowed us to invest back into GSC,’’ said Judy Rae. Events can be held across all three floors of

the science mall, where guests are able to explore the BodyWorks exhibitions, take a trip across the Universe with one of the Sky Pilots or burn up some energy in the interactive Powering the Future area. The 430m2 atrium is a flexible space with a capacity of up to 450 guests, while more intimate dinners for up to 70 guests can be held in the new Space Zone.
