QF Focus Magazine Introducing Francisco Lidón

Francisco Lidón is not your average businessman. Despite the fact that he is the owner of an Estate Agent’s in Doña Pepa www.lidonandassociates.com, 39 year old Francisco comes across as casual and easy going. Born in Elche, Francisco grew up in the Costa Blanca. The six years he spent in London, first as a student and then as an employee, really marked his character. He is very open and friendly, and speaks English fluently.

He studied Art, Design and Visual Culture by Projects at Guildhall University in London, then went on to work for American Express in the British capital. Francisco loved living in such a vibrant city and got to know the British way of life well.

When he moved back to Spain he settled in Doña Pepa, where he soon became aware of the needs of local residents, 70% of whom are foreign. Due to the fact that he speaks English and is such an outgoing character, Francisco became well known in the area. Due to popular demand he set up a few years ago the Residents Association of Doña Pepa and Lo Marabu - www.donapepaonline.com.

The main aim of the association is to ease the communication between the Town Hall and the residents. Despite the fact that there are so many foreigners living in the area, almost all the information given out by the Town Hall is solely in Spanish. Many of the foreign residents would love to participate in projects which take place in the area, as it is in everyone's interests to make the place cleaner and better cared for. Another aim of the Association is to support local businesses within the area, and integrate both Doña Pepa and Lo Marabu more into Rojales. There are now over 800 members, the majority of whom are British.

It has become Francisco's personal goal to make both Doña Pepa and Lo Marabu two of the best areas in which to live in the Southern Costa Blanca. He is pushing for more green areas, play parks for children, sports zones, restoration of old buildings such

as converting the Finca

Palazon into a museum, and the construction of a church.

The association meetings are held every month, mainly with presidents of communities and neighbours. Francisco then takes the conclusions of these meetings, complaints and suggestions, to the Mayor and local politicians, in a bid to improve the area. He almost acts as a bridge between foreign residents and the Town Hall.

In his free time Francisico enjoys flamenco dancing, but doesn't dance much in public, claiming to be too shy! His two rescue dogs are his constant companions, and he has an adopted British family, Pam and Terry Owen, who are his next door neighbours. Francisco's Spanish family live in Elche, where his father is a well known businessman.

Francisco is very hands on, and enjoys taking clients to see properties when he is at the estate agents www.alicanteholidaylets.com. He also worked as the manager of Procomobel www.procomobel.es for two years.

Anyone who would like to know more can visit the website of the association: www.donapepaonline.com. You can email Francisco should you want to, via this website.
