If you did not see the most recent Rascals performance in Los Montesinos, then you missed an absolute treat. From the moment the curtain went up, it was clear that this show oozed professionalism, and could almost be compared to something you might see in the West End.

The choice of musical content, which was based on the silver screen, had plenty of variety and the choreography, which was largely down to new recruit Julia Young, had the audience in raptures right from the start. Rascals have always featured some well worked dance routines in their shows, but this year it was clear that they had been very well rehearsed and they were performed expertly. The comedy sketches too were original and very funny indeed.

Annette Baldwin, show director, said she was very proud of such a wonderful cast, many of whom had only joined Rascals this year, and for some of whom it was their first time on stage. She continued, "when I look back to January I really wondered if we would ever get a show off the ground, because so many of Rascal's older members had retired or wanted to take a break. We advertised for new recruits and organised membership rallies in many different areas. I really could not have hoped for the wonderful response we received. Paul and I have dedicated six months of our lives to get this show off the ground; people don’t realise just how much organising is necessary. We have been so lucky to find Julia Young, our choreographer who herself is a performing arts teacher".

So what’s next? Well as one retired member said, Rascals have certainly re-invented themselves! Not quite, I don’t think - but they are well on the way. They will soon be getting together to decide on our Christmas show. If you would like to join them in any capacity you will be very welcome.
