gem named Best in Kent
Celebrations are in order for Canterbury, offi cially home to the Best Pub in Kent – The Grove Ferry Inn! A gem among stones, the charming pub – situated on the bank of the Great Stour River – has been crowned the County Winner in the National Pub & Bar Awards Final. Tim Foster, co-owner of the pub, said: “It’s been an eventful seven years. The Grove Ferry Inn has experienced everything from a fi re to a fl ood but that just makes winning this award that much sweeter. We’ve been through hell and back, and come out swinging! I’m really proud of the hard work and passion that Billy and his team have put into making The Grove a great community pub, a countryside gem and of course, The Best Pub in Kent!”

The Sportsman named Pub of the Year
The Sportsman in Seasalter has been named Best Pub in the GQ Food and Drink Awards 2016. The Shepherd Neame-owned pub, run by brothers Stephen and Phil Harris, picked up the title at an awards ceremony hosted in London by TV presenter Claudia Winkleman.
Readers of the men’s lifestyle magazine voted for their favourite chefs, restaurants, sommeliers, bars, hotels and restaurateurs. From the thousands of nominations only a handful made
the shortlist, with GQ’s panel of experts naming The Sportsman, which has held a Michelin star for eight years, as Best Pub.
