law 23 In pursuit of excellence

Like many firms of solicitors and other organisations, finding talent can be a challenge, writes Shaun Jardine, partner and chief executive officer, Brethertons LLP

We want people who can embrace the culture, embody our values and work with our dynamic teams. And like so many firms, we look for experienced, energetic, self-motivated lawyers who are big on casework but want to do much more.

From this month, Brethertons has an exceptionally attractive offering; we’ve opened brand new offices in Bicester, Oxfordshire. As well as an established and well-respected conveyancing practice run by managing partner Steven Neasham, the office has advice on family matters and wills, trusts and probates. With our innovative commercial law team, the office provides great legal advice for Bicester and the surrounding area.

“There are fantastic opportunities to work with

leading Bicester clients from our new offices in Franklins House, part of the town’s multi-million-pound regeneration project. Our move starts an exciting chapter in Brethertons’ future as we expand our offering to improve legal services for businesses and individuals. We need lawyers who can respond to this fast-paced change and who will thrive on the demands of new business,” says Neasham.

We are already an award- winning firm, ranked in the top 200, with Investors in People gold status. Add in these new opportunities and we are expecting some high-calibre, ambitious lawyers to want to talk to us.

We are actively marketing ourselves and have worked hard to make our employer brand one of the most

cutting-edge in the sector. Lawyers in all our offices – Banbury, Rugby, Bicester and London – join us because we’re a new kind of firm. As a result, we attract a new breed of lawyer; one that is focused on developing client opportunities, who leads the way in client care, wants to prove their worth and be in the running for partner one day.

Brethertons has an impressive and diverse client base firm-wide. Anyone working for us will have the opportunity to work on high-quality cases. We are always keen to hear from people who want to come and work for us, however, we are particularly recruiting for conveyancing and commercial lawyers with five to six years experience, to be based at our new Bicester offices.

Top-25 recognition for Blake Morgan

Blake Morgan has been named as one of the top-25 UK law firms by ePrivateClient, the news service for private-client practitioners.

The prestigious rankings are based on a survey of more than 125 law firms in the UK and take into account a number of factors including the number of partners, fee income and the percentage that private client work makes up of a firm’s total income.

The listings are also informed by a breakdown of the number of partners for the different aspects of private client legal work from trusts, wills, landed estates and tax to wider services including family, property, immigration and contentious issues.

Helen Bunker, divisional director of private law at Blake Morgan, said: “The private client team at Blake Morgan prides itself on being trusted advisers to clients. We form very personal relationships and are often the first port of call in the event of a change in a client’s personal, family or financial circumstances.”

Walter Cha, managing partner at Blake Morgan, added: “Private client work is a significant part of the Blake Morgan offering. This listing is recognition of our expertise in this area, along with the commitment of our highly-regarded private client teams to delivering exceptional service.”
