Complete thermal insulation with Marmox Thermoblock

Marmox UK is a British company producing specialist modern building materials for today’s, and tomorrow’s, construction industry. Incorporating the latest innovations in building materials, Marmox produce high-end, affordable and environmental solutions to the modern developer giving the best solution for a stylish and efficient, state-of-the-art, contemporary home.

THERMAL BRIDGE

Never before has the thermal efficiency of a building been of greater importance, giving not just environmental benefits but also reducing the running costs to the homeowner. With up to 30% of a building’s heat being lost through the wall-floor junction, or ‘thermal bridge’, there is an obvious benefit in tackling this right from the design stage.

Marmox Thermoblock is an established solution to the problem of Thermal Bridging, with a proven track record in mainland Northern Europe spanning over 5 years and, as a result of planned changes to UK and Irish building regulations, it’s use is becoming more common.

Consisting of a core of fire resistant, completely waterproof XPS insulation encasing two rows of load-carrying, low conductivity, epoxy concrete pillars for the entire length of the block and with the top and bottom surfaces coated with a layer of fibre reinforced polymer concrete incorporating Carbon Nanotubes, Marmox Thermoblock simply replaces the first course of masonry blocks in the interior and exterior walls.

LOAD BEARING

It used to be impossible to insulate under the supporting wall because the insulation would have been crushed. Marmox Thermoblock however is strong, withstanding up to 9N/mm2

, so this is exactly

where it is placed to ensure low Y and Ψ values, connecting the wall insulation to the floor insulation by insulating below the supporting wall - it is an insulation layer with the strength of a load carrying block.

CERTIFIED

Marmox Thermoblock is part of the BRE Certified Thermal Product Scheme, which means that when used in several common junction details, the heat loss at the thermal bridge, or ‘psi value’, has already been worked out and approved by BRE, so can be used directly in the SAP calculation.

Marmox Thermoblock is therefore the ideal building component for any modern development with unrivalled environmental credentials, it should be at the top of any architect’s specification list.

One of the worst thermal bridges is the wall-floor junction.
