British Eventing and National Schools Equestrian Association launch new series
Along with the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA), British Eventing has announced that riders in both organisations can now look forward to a brand new points league for the 2016 season.
The league is being held for NSEA registered riders competing at BE80, BE90, BE100 and Novice level classes throughout the 2016 season. The prize fund will include training vouchers, BE membership and other prizes.
Chris Farr, BE Sports Operations Manager commented: “This new league system will help to increase the opportunities for riders competing at the lower levels through to Novice. It will also be an opportunity for riders to
have access to and participate in BE accredited training within their region.”
He also added: “I am extremely pleased that we have re-visited our relationship with the NSEA after our original NSEA League in 2011 and 2012. This sadly did not get off the ground due to administrative limitations but both organisations are very confident that our systems now are able to align and offer efficient monitoring and updates of the league.”
Jane Peters, British Eventing’s under 18 Chairman added: “We have had some very talented riders through the NSEA system recently including Sam Ecroyd and Chelsea Pearce. We know that
NSEA have some promising youngsters coming up and it would be fantastic to encourage them to engage with the BE system in the hope that there will be a future medallist or two amongst them!”
Jill Barker, Chairman of the NSEA commented: “The NSEA are delighted that we have been able to join with BE for this exciting initiative. This will be a real boost for NSEA members and BE and we look forward to a successful league during the 2016 season.”
How to take part All existing and potential NSEA members will be invited to register their interest with the NSEA for this league in 2016. The riders can then enter
any BE events as normal, either buying BE Day Pass Membership or Full Membership depending on their level of competition and personal preference.
How the League works The NSEA will calculate the accrued BE points or Foundation Points by each horse and rider combination and update them each month; these rankings will show on both the NSEA and BE websites.

New British Dressage 2016 competition structure
British Dressage members should by now have received the 2016 Members’ Handbook, together with a handy guide and rules clarification flyer – plus an email with an individual points breakdown to determine where you’ll fit under the new structure and your new rider group.
Remember: Rider groups are calculated using results in the current and preceding ten calendar years only. British Eventing riders will be grouped according to the level of competition they’ve reached in eventing. The same will apply for holders of BHSI and FBHS qualifications. No points are awarded for para, young horse or freestyle classes. Prelim points will be zeroed as of 01 December unless rider is a foreign national, eventing rider or FBHS/BHSI where 15 points will be

added. Advanced points will not display as they do not count towards the totals. Pony National Competitions will be zeroed as of 01 December. However, under the new system, points won in these classes from 01 December will show under the Medium level tally. You’ll also receive an equivalent email for horse points for any horse you may own and/or ride which is currently registered or lapsed in the last two months. Together, these emails should arm you with all the information you need to determine where you sit in the new British Dressage structure and which sections/levels you’re eligible for.
