Santa Rosa, CA. ~ I couldn’t possibly publish all the pic- tures, but I can tell you that we had an Upbeat Time up in Oregon in July. With a historic thunderstorm to boot up in the mountains, we also ate a bunch of food, slept in un- til 9:30 a.m. almost ev- ery morning and fi shed almost ev- ery day! We also
managed to get down to
the Lost Creek reservoir and took the kayaks out for a spin and sailed a bit too. My little dog Zippy also went for a ride and loved the water.
While we were gone, the
vegetables grew to historic siz- es to boot! I managed to fi nd a three foot in length, 20 pound zucchini tucked below a large green canvas of leaves wait- ing to be picked. We
picked
them and gave some to all of our neighbors! I also harvested over 150 perfect 1/2 to 1 pound onions, tons of green beans and well over 300 peaches. We’ll be having smoothies for the rest of the year since we froze much of the bounty. We are of-
fi cially Up- beat Times Incorpo-
rated and are looking forward to many posi- tive transi-
tions into a genuine ‘Ragazine’ as one local radio talent coined the description. We all tried to come up with a variety of descriptions for what the Up- beat Times resembled. Many consider it a newspaper with a magazine style format. Who knows, we may eventually change the paper and what we print it on, but it is safe to say, ‘not anytime soon!’

Transcript of an actual radio conversation of a US naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in Octo- ber, 1995. Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations 10-10-95.
The top photo is a
shot of the thunder- storm 10 miles north of the lake that developed again the next day. Our campground was 22 miles from this lake and those clouds gave us 2 inches of rain in 1 hour & fl ooded our camp and my daugh- ters tent (outside). It was awesome! Mother nature is to be respect- ed. The photo to the right shows 140 foot + fi r trees aging over 1800 years old each. At bottom, I was hav- ing a bit of fun! Toes UP! I couldn’t use my thumbs because I was taking the picture. I wanted to inform ... continued on page 6
