Summer GUIDE #2 The Friendly Tech Wireless Windows 10
Glen Ellen, CA. ~ Were you told you couldn’t get high speed broadband internet? Well now you can! Long distance wireless technology has vastly improved in the past few years and is now available to almost anyone.
Whether you need to go 250ft to a second building or 20 miles, costs have come down drastically and even through rain and weather point to point systems maintain a stable connection. Small but powerful antennas use microwaves to communi- cate over vast distances with ease. Ubiquiti Networks from San Jose manufactures the leading radios that are fairly
easy to configure and allow for long distance connection at very affordable prices. This is important to anyone who is “off the grid” and has limited

connection can be sent to you with a point to point radio that is just as fast as running a stan- dard networking cable the en- tire way. This is also important to land owners and businesses, the inter- net connection in one building on a piece of property can be eas- ily shared to others no matter the distance. I really enjoy us- ing this technology because it allows for custom solutions to what had previously been difficult prob-
solutions for high speed inter- net.
Now if you can see a friend or neighbors home or even a service line from a standard in- ternet provider, that high speed
lems. The possibilities are al- most endless, and allow for the flow of information in areas where it was previously almost inaccessible.
Often high construction costs
limit internet access in rural ar- eas. That is no longer a factor since wireless connection are many times cheaper and often even faster! The exciting news this month is the release of Windows 10, Microsoft new- est operating system, as of this writing it has not been full re- leased but from my experiences with the test version Windows 10 will be a welcome change to users of Windows 8 and 8.1. I will bring a full review next month.

19th century are hard to verify, this is probably the first time the United States has crossed the 3,000 brewery barrier since the 1870’s.
And to that, I say let’s toast to the many craft brewer- ies we now can enjoy all over the nation as well as toasting beer all over the globe: Cheers (here and in England), Gan Bei (Mandarin), Skal (Danish and Swedish), Proost (Dutch), Sante (French), Slainte (Irish Gaelic) Salute (Italian), Na zd- rowie (Polish) Salud (Spanish) Chok dee (Thai), Serefe (Turk- ish), Lechyd da(Welsh) and Sei gesund (Yiddish). Beer is an international beverage enjoyed by billions around the globe, in the US and here in Sonoma County were some of the best of the best are brewed. Isn’t it 5 o’clock somewhere?
In future columns I will be presenting many details about beer including the many styles that are made by craft brew- ers. For those you who are in- terested in enjoying craft beer, there are many in our area that produce world-class beer. One quite well known and extreme- ly well regarded is The Russian River Brewing Company on 4th Street in downtown Santa Rosa. Their Pliny the Younger is ranked #1 by The Beer Ad- vocate out of 250 beers. Their Pliny the Elder is ranked #4. If you are in downtown Santa Rosa, you are likely to see many

cases of Pliny the Elder. Pliny the Younger is a special release done only once a year. It is a ‘triple IPA’ (India Pale Ale), which means it has a higher al- cohol content than most ales. It is only available for consump- tion at the brewer’s during about this time of year since it is not bottled nor distributed. Until next time!
