Education is a one of the key

building blocks

United Way recognizes must be in place for individual and community success. It is es- sential for finding and keeping a job with a livable wage and

health benefits. Reading is not only a cornerstone of educa- tion but also vital for mastering the skills necessary to thrive. Currently, 49% of our area’s third graders are reading below grade level, and United Way, along with its partnering local school districts and community organizations, set a goal to see 90% of these students reading at or above grade level by 2020.
