From the Executive Director As I reflect on this year’s Convention, I
am truly amazed at how many people par- ticipated in some aspect of the convention! Whether you helped with the door prizes, were a greeter or door monitor, served as a facilitator for a round table, or were a pre- senter, YOU are the reason for a successful event. I must applaud and thank all the Committee Chairs for their outstanding leadership as well – you thought, you planned, you organized, and then you energized your committee to make this the best possible Convention – THANK YOU – for your part as well. It takes everyone working together to make the Convention a success! I hope you all took advantage of the chance to meet new people

To those of you that are finalizing plans for your Fall Fair – GOOD LUCK! We know what a busy time this is for you! Hope you all have a great Summer! Thanks again for all your support and don’t forget – YOU are the Federation and WE are a “Fair Family!”
as well as take new ideas back to your Fair! Networking and get- ting to know other “Fair Folks” across the state is perhaps one of the greatest benefits of the Convention and membership in our organization. We’ve got a busy summer coming up with the Summer Work-

“RESTRICTIONS ON OTHER
AMUSEMENT RIDES”
We often get calls at our office con-
cerning a unique provision in Chapter 616, which governs public fairs and expositions. It is Section 616.13 of the Florida Statutes which states:
Lance Fuchs Foster & Fuchs, P.A.
A person may not engage in the business of providing temporary amusement rides within a 5-mile radius of and within 30 days before or during any public fair or exposition being operated by a fair association, when not op- erating in connection with that fair or exposi- tion, except with the written consent of the affected fair association.
The legislature, as well as Florida courts, have consistently rec-
ognized the importance of fair associations and the education, as well as amusement, that the associations provide. This section of the Florida statues provides an important protec- tion for fairs.
If you believe you are affected by this provision, or it
might provide your fair some protection, feel free to call our office, or contact the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Ride Division.
