First, I would like to congratulate you all on yet another fun-filled, safe and successful fair and show season. Year in and year out, millions of residents and visitors get a taste of Florida’s rich agricul-

tural heritage at fairs and livestock shows scattered throughout the state. Whether it is food, fun or fellowship, there is truly something for everyone. However, Florida’s fairs and livestock shows provide much more than entertainment. These events present a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to learn more about

Florida’s agriculture industry, its impact on the state’s economy and its role in feeding our nation and the world. Having participated in livestock shows growing up myself, I can speak firsthand at how fairs

and livestock shows build lasting connections between Floridians and their communities. For these reasons and more, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is a proud partner and supporter of Florida’s many fairs and livestock shows. The department is proud to fund awards and premiums for deserving youth exhibitors, an

important piece in the development of tomorrow’s agricultural leaders, through 4-H and FFA. In addition, the department works to grow the number of agriculture education facilities around the state. Specifically, the department helps this association, local governments and other entities apply for state funding for the construction of agriculture education and promotion facilities. In the last few state budgets, millions of dollars in funding was provided for facilities that will promote and educate

Florida’s residents and visitors about agriculture’s impact on our economy, culture and quality of life. Again, thank you all for the important work you do to support Florida and our state’s agriculture industry, and I hope this upcoming season is another record-setting year.
