The importance of legal liability for Massage Therapists their professional licenses.

In the United States, there are several companies

engaged Association For in insurance

market of liability and risk to massage therapists such as Massage & Liability Insurance

Massage,

American Massage Therapy Association, to name a few.

For the insurance policy and the support of professional risk, such partnerships require

that the massage therapist). For therapist

has their Massage Therapist License (certified or licensed professional massage

this it is

mandatory to have a certain number of hours of previous study in a school recognized by the authority

issuing

the license; for example in the case of Florida 5oo hours of required study, in Puerto Rico 1000 hours, in Texas 500 hours, to name a few states.

The most important consideration for spas in the US, is that the massage therapist has their license or valid certificate as a Professional Massage Therapist and their liability insurance for massage.

This benefits both the spa and the massage therapist in case of negligence in any of the services received by a client that results in some damage or injury.

In Mexico, unfortunately, we lack the much needed

backing for massage

therapists and spas to have this license and insurance because there is no regulation to establish a curriculum to academically train massage therapists in Mexico.

This is an issue for both massage therapists and spas in our country. CIMS Consejo Internacional de Masaje y Spa (International Board of Massage and Spa) offers for the first time in Mexico, a core curriculum of 350 hours for schools and universities interested in participating. Based on the standards used in countries such as the US and Canada;

and moreover, legal support and thanks to

agreements with various companies, CIMS offers certification, with financial and

professional

liability risk for certified massage therapists in Mexico with coverage of up to one and a half million pesos per therapist.

At CIMS, we believe that a base of academic

professional

training is required massage

therapists

for to

minimize liability risks in the profession.

Why certify? In reality, certification is required

to services ensure such professional

excellence and quality providers of health

as

therapy; at present there are different medical specialties and

related to health and they require their members to be certified, and even have

massage

As a result of the current requirements of providers of health services, CIMS brings

you the option of certifying

massage therapists with academic and practical knowledge thereby

proving

their quality as professional massage therapists.

But what about the massage therapists already working in spas around Mexico? Can these be certified? The answer is yes. Spas have the option to train their staff and to certify with CIMS. Spas can obtain the program for the CIMS certification exam, join the board and thereby train and support their therapists to become certified via the practical and theory test and obtaining the

professional risk insurance of

$1,500,000.00 pesos and legal advice, 24 hours, 365 days a year.

The massage therapist can be certified on their own, without joining the board, by providing the requirements that the board has established for certification. We invite you to visit our website of the International Board of Massage and Spa www.cims.com.mx
