01 July Young Norfolk Arts Festival Unplugged Te Birdcage


Head down to the Birdcage on 1st July to see young musicians from Norfolk showcasing their talents at an unplugged evening designed to support, network and inspire each other. You can catch super local musicians Mullally, Meg Bays, Liam Jary, Eve Hilyer-Ziegler and Maya Law, and there’ll also be a performance by Jess Morgan. All aged 16-19, this is an important event for upcoming singer songwriters in our city. Everyone’s welcome although this is a 16+ event. Tickets are a fiver each or £3 for concessions. Support your local young musicians! And enjoy a pint at the same time!


03-05 July Lord Mayor’s Celebration


Here comes the Lord Mayor! Yes, it’s time to gather on the streets of Norwich and celebrate. As well as the main parade on Saturday, filled with floats created by Nor-folk, there’s masses else on too. On Friday, check out the Gas Hill Gasp at 19.15, or take a picnic to the Castle Gardens for an acoustic jam session with Creative Arts East and somewhereto_. On Saturday, Norwich Arts Centre will be presenting new music from Norwich on London Street from 18:00-22:00. Bo Nanafana will be representing in the Chantry Road car park with live music from Shooting Stars and dancing for everyone. You’ll bump into some street theatre performers amongst the main procession and Chapelfield Gardens will have DJ’s from the Disco Shed and BBC Voices. On Millennium Plain, in front of the Forum, there’ll be beat-boxing, jugglers, a rock choir, a steel band and an open air screen showing films including Paddington and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Sunday sees the funfair in Chapelfield Gardens continue as well as the now legendary Great Norwich Duck Race at 4pm on Lady Julian Bridge on Riverside. Super summer funtimes.

04 July Te Underground Gallery St Stephens underpass/Chantry Lane car park


Local bloggers Life in a Fine City and Norwich gallery Moosey Art are teaming up to transform the St Stephens underpass into a permanent art space. Nice work! As part of the Lord Mayor’s weekend 48 local artists will be showing their work on the boards, including Gemma Correll and Gnasher. Some of the pieces will be installed before the weekend, but you can watch the rest being painted live on 4th July in the Chantry Lane car park. Te underpass gallery launches at noon and you’ll be able to view all the art whilst listening to some of the city’s best musicians playing live. Don’t forget that Friday 3rd July is Free Art Friday in Norwich so keep a look out around the city and you might be lucky enough to pick up something from one of the featured artists. Whoop! 05 July Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre 11am-5pm


It’s the 6th annual Lanes Summer Fayre! YESSS. So much on, with live music outside NAC, a kids funfair and get your 15 minutes of fame at Soundclash; bring your own records and be a DJ. Tere’ll be 100 stalls full of vintage stuff, antiques, arts and crafts and handmade items, and swing music from Maui Waui on St Gregory’s Green as well as pool and table tennis. Get a massage and find out more about alternative therapies on Pottergate, check out the mini market at the Maddermarket, some live music near the Maddermarket Kitchen and Ali Bongo’s will have some hookahs for your smoking pleasure. Check out the live art from Moosey in Tesco’s loading bay, Lobster Lane’s blanket sale, the Bo Nanafana stage on Bedford Street and Franks Bar’s very special tea party. Catch some live music outside St Andrews’ Church and treat yourself to a BBQ outside the Library Restaurant. Tere’s loads more on too…just come down, have a wander and soak it all up! I bloody love Norwich.
