Teachers may be nominated by students, parents, and school administra- tors. All selected teachers and their classes receive a pizza party from The Pizza Factory in Temecula and will be invited to attend a private celebration at the end of the year at the Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium. A Rancho Viejo Middle School teacher in Hemet received a nice surprise
when she was named the February recipient of the Teachers are Heroes award and learned she can take her students to a special celebration at the Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium in May. Teacher Delaina Nelson is one of the seven teachers in Southwest River-
side County to receive the Teachers are Heroes award this school year. The award was given at the school on February 26, 2015, with Vice Principal Steven Mack and Nelson’s students present. Ms. Nelson was nominated by one of her students who said about her
teacher, “This teacher really goes the extra mile for her students. She started a clothing club for the kids called ‘Kids Closet’ for those students who are in need. She often invites her students to share lunch.” Nelson was pre-
