have changed the paper sack production process and has done away with strenuous, tedious and repetitive operations in paper sack manufacturing plants. With a palletising speed of 33

packets of sacks per minute, the latest Arcomat 3+ matches the productivity of modern multiwall

laimed to be the world’s top selling paper sack palletising robot, the 300th Arcomat from

paper sack folding and glueing machines running at 360 sacks per minute. It features a gantry design with three traversing axes and a sophisticated periphery for the infeed and alignment of sack packets and empty pallets as well as for the removal of finished stacks. A special feature of the Arcomat is the pre-forming of the layer on a table before placing it onto the stack which leads to a significant improvement of the stack quality. Furthermore, the table serves as a buffer that stores some packets during pallet change,

thus contributing to continuous operation. Its function as a pressing plate for the finished stack is essential for a high stack quality. Windmöller & Hölscher manufactures machinery and equipment for the flexible packaging industry. Its product line encompasses blown and cast film equipment, flexographic and gravure printing presses, machines

for surface finishing and for the processing of paper, films and woven plastics fabrics, as well as FFS (Form-Fill-Seal) packaging systems. Rotor used in pulpers cuts energy consumption

A new design of rotor for use in pulpers that process recovered paper is claimed to offer reduced energy consumption.

Voith says its IntensaRotor R has been operating successfully with industrial customers and has proven that its energy consumption is as much as 20 percent below the usual values. It is suitable for installation in existing Voith pulpers as well as in pulpers from other manufacturers. During operation at paper mills in Turkey and China the rotor has

From pulp particle charge measurement to tissue hand feel analysis

A range of paper testing equipment will be demonstrated by German manufacturer Emtec Electronic at the Asian Paper Show in Indonesia from 28-30 April. Says Emtec: “In the wet end of the paper production process it is extremely important to have detailed information about the charges of particles in the pulp suspension, which can

be determined by CAS Charge Analyzing System. Also important is the knowledge about the surface charge of the pulp fibres, which can be measured with the FPA Fiber Potential Analyzer.” Emtec has also developed a new online measuring device called FPO Fiber Zeta Potential Analyzer Online (pictured), which measures the Zeta Potential of fibres directly

demonstrated that it has lower specific energy consumption at a higher throughput than its predecessors. In the first case, the daily output was increased from 260 to 300 metric tons, with an energy saving of eight percent per ton. In the second industrial example, the amount of stock after installation of the IntensaRotor R was increased from 510 to 630 metric tons per day,

in the production process. In addition to the wet-end, it is

necessary to gather information about the quality of the base and final products. For this purpose Emtec will show its EST12 Surface & Sizing Tester which characterizes the process relevant surface parameters of paper and board in order to predict its converting properties. Additionally, the TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer will be shown, which gives reliable information about the ‘hand feel’ and different softness parameters of tissue products.

while energy consumption per ton dropped by 12 percent. Both the better energy balance and the higher output are due to the new rotor design. The IntensaRotor R is especially suitable for pulpers of secondary fibre applications in low-consistency area and is delivered in various sizes. More information from Voith at www.voith.com/paper
