BOATYARD OPERATIONS 29
Marine electronics at METS A
ctisense, the market- leading marine electronics brand from Active Research Ltd,
exhibited its range of NMEA technical products at the Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam at Amsterdam’s RAI exhibition halls in November. Specifically on show was the
popular NGW-1-STNG, which is the Raymarine® SeaTalk NG option of the NGW-1. The NGW- 1-STNG allows users to convert NMEA 0183 data into SeaTalk NG and vice-versa, providing seamless integration with Raymarine products. The product combines a standard NGW-1-ISO with a Raymarine SeaTalk NG adapter cable to interface legacy instruments to the NMEA 2000®
based SeaTalk NG bus. Also on display
was the company’s A2K range of cable assemblies, in particular the A2K-BULK-100M, which can be used to create or extend an NMEA 2000® backbone. The cable is available in 100 metre reels, giving a boatyard the flexibility to tailor the backbone to the specific requirements of any installation. Actisense

Hydrophilic anti-fouling
Raffaello is a superior grade, hydrophilic anti-fouling from Veneziani Yachting. The high content of copper compounds and the special resin guarantees a highly effective and durable anti-fouling at all times. The resin is hydrophilic and therefore reduces drag.
It is effective both in warm
and temperate waters, brackish waters and lakes. The product has controlled solubility and is therefore convenient for use on medium-speed boats and on sailing boats, but is not suitable for boats made of light alloy. It does not build up with time
since it is progressively consumed during use. Produced in black, dark blue,
light blue, green, grey and red, Rafaello is available in 0.75, 2.50 and 5.00 litre tins Veneziani Yachting

Super Cap for shrink wrap installation
It is advisable to use shrink wrap for the protection of any size boat from the elements if stored in the open, but it is also important to employ the best installation accessories to ensure the vessel remains in top shape while it is covered. After the hard Winter of 2013-14, Dr Shrink developed the new Super Cap, which is designed to transfer the weight of snow, ice and rain from the top of 5 cm x 10 cm support poles used under shrink wrap storage covers. This helps to prevent support
poles from breaking through the shrink wrap storage covers when compressed by a layer of heavy snow or deposits of ice or water. Pre-formed in a dome shape,
the Super Cap rests on the woven cord strapping that runs both lengthwise and crosswise on boats. A Super Cap can easily be attached to wooden uprights with either a nail or staples. It measures 51 x 51 x 15 cm. Dr Shrink
