TheLife Schoolchildren show off their talent
Together with the teachers, they choose the twenty best paintings from the three age categories – Nursery and Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 – and put them up in the window of the Felicity J Lord branch for local residents to vote for their favourites during the Bank Holiday.
Hundreds of people from Stoke Newington converged on Felicity J Lord over the Diamond Jubilee weekend to vote for their favourite budding artists. The estate agent teamed up
with the Grazebrook Primary School to give the pupils a chance to show off their artistic skills with a special themed ‘jubilee’ drawing competition.
The winners, Emi Meelap, Mimi Newton and Lily Wright, all received £30 Amazon vouchers from Laarni Deasley, Branch Partner for Felicity J Lord in Stoke Newington, at a special assembly. Laarni said, “It was a lot of fun and it was fantastic to see local people playing their part by popping into the branch and voting for their favourite.”

Badger shoots for the stars
Following on from last month’s report, Badger Holdings, parent company to Townends and Regents estate agents, kicked off its 2012 campaign for the Shooting Star CHASE charity with employees taking part in an intense army assault course and an iron man challenge of five tasks in five days. Four teams put on camouflage
kit and helmets to undergo a tough challenge at Henfold Lakes in Dorking, Surrey to raise £7,500. Meanwhile an 18 man team battled the elements for the five
day iron man challenge, starting with a climb up Scafell Pike, completed in three and half hours; then a 50 mile cycle from Salisbury Plain. Day three was a 26-mile walk/run along the coastal path of Dorset. On day four, plans to canoe down the Thames were hit by bad weather but the re-routed 25 mile paddle along the Basingstoke Canal meant the team passed the hospice they were fund-raising for and they were invited to pop in and meet some of the children. Tony Addinall said, “The assault course was strenuous but it was a great team event. The unplanned and unexpected invitation to the hospice was emotional and heart-warming and spurred us on to complete the last leg of this challenge, reinforcing the very reason we were doing it in the first place.”
50 l August 2012 l TheNegotiator Tea parties and footie matches
A special tea party hosted by a Colchester teenager raised over £700 for Spicerhaart’s Magic Moments charity whilst the Essex town’s branch raised nearly £500 by hosting a special football match. The football playing staff played against colleagues from haart branches in Kent at Coggleshall FC. Colchester United’s goalkeeper Mark Cousins presented the trophy to the winners. Steve Lamb, Chairman of
Magic Moments said, “The event was a great success and we’re hopeful that it will become a regular event.” Meanwhile, after hearing
about the work that Magic Moments does supporting children’s hospices such as Little Havens in Essex, 16 year-old Martha held a tea party raising £722.
Martha, who baked all the
cakes for the party which attracted over 100 people, said, “Magic Moments inspired me to organise something with my friends. To raise so much for such a great cause really was the icing on the cake for me – if you’ll excuse the pun.” Jonathan Martin, Magic
Moments Trustee said, “I can’t thank Martha enough
for the effort she has gone to raise so much money. She’s an absolute credit to her family who I am sure are extremely proud of her.” l

Sally Mabbutt from The Prince’s Trust and Trust-supported young entrepreneur Owen Lowry at the Delamore Estate in Cornwood, South Devon. Marcus Lucock, Managing
Director of Marchand Petit said, “With levels of unemployment amongst young people at an
all-time high, The Prince’s Trust can offer the support needed for young people to turn their lives around.” Sally Mabbutt, Commercial Manager at The Prince’s Trust said, “We couldn’t continue to help the number of young people that we do across Devon and the whole of the UK without the help of forward thinking businesses like Marchand Petit. These funds will go directly towards helping disadvantaged young people in the local area to get into work, training or education.”
