• Law firm Blake Morgan has promoted 14 solicitors in its Oxford office, some of whom are pictured above. The promotions, from 58 announced by the wider firm, highlight the firm’s growth and the strengthening of its teams following on from the merger of Oxford law firms Blake Lapthorn and Morgan Cole earlier this year. In Blake Morgan’s commercial litigation team, Ricky Sidhu and Philip Collins receive promotions to senior associate, while Dominic Pinder becomes an associate and Ben Clark is promoted to senior solicitor. In the construction team, David Evans is promoted from senior associate to legal director. Employment solicitor Vicky Schollar, family lawyer Cat Morgan, risk management solicitor Sophie Young, and real estate team members Cheryl McCready, Rachel Sales and Ann-Marie Dickinson, all become senior solicitors. Keith Lancaster of the planning team is promoted to associate, along with residential conveyancing solicitors Marilyn Neptune and Jackie Waller. Meanwhile Blake Morgan’s presence in the Thames Valley is further strengthened by the promotions of Reading-based solicitors Rajiv Joshi, who becomes a senior associate in the employment team, Rhiannon Jenkins, who is promoted to associate in the same team, and Narrinder Taggar, who becomes a senior associate in the insurance team.


• Andy Hill has been appointed CEO of Beaconsfield-based King of Shaves and to the board of the holding company. Hill, who studied mechanical engineering, has been with King of Shaves since 1995. He led the Hyperglide development team, and was managing director of KMI (the company founded by Will King in 1993) from 2004 to 2009. "Andy is exceptionally well placed to build on the brands’ 21-year-old foundations and reputation," said King, founder, who is standing down as CEO, but will remain as board director and the largest shareholder.


• Rebecca Bunting has been appointed as the new vice chancellor and chief executive officer of Buckinghamshire New University and will take over from Professor Ruth Farwell, who is retiring. Bunting is currently the deputy vice chancellor at the University of Portsmouth and has held senior roles at universities including Anglia Ruskin and Northampton. She is due to start her role at Bucks New University early next year. Bunting is chair of the Higher Education Funding Council for


England’s (HEFCE) Widening Participation Review Group and a board director of The Higher Education Academy (HEA).


• The Thames Valley office of Grant Thornton has appointed experienced VAT specialist Ruth Corkin who has practised in the field for over 20 years. Corkin was previously with James Cowper in the Thames Valley, where she provided advice to


a range of clients from small not-for-profit companies to those looking to list on AIM. She is technical chair of the VAT Practitioners Group, a member of the ICAEW Tax Faculty VAT and Duties Committee and also of HM Revenue and Customs Joint VAT Consultative Committee. Locally she is a member of the Thames Valley Women in Property group and was a member of the Oxford Chamber of Commerce Committee. Specialist areas include land and property transactions, international services, inward investment opportunities, financial services, education and mergers and acquisitions.
