Volusia County Fair Members Honored

David Viers, CFE Executive Director of the Volusia County Fair and Billy Jones Current President of the Volusia County Fair Association have been selected to receive the Honor- ary American FFA Degree. This award is given to those who advance agricultural

education and FFA through outstanding personal commit- ment. The National FFA Organization works to enhance the lives

of youth through agricultural education. Without the efforts of highly dedicated individuals, thousands of young people would not be able to achieve success that, in turn, contrib- utes directly to the overall well-being of the nation. The Honorary American FFA Degree is an opportunity to recognize those wo have gone beyond valuable daily con- tributions to make an extraordinary long-term difference in the lives of students, inspiring confidence in a new genera- tion of agriculturists. Members of the National FFA Organization’s board of di- rectors approved the nominations. Viers and Jones will receive the awards at the 2014 Na-

tional FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 29-Nov 1 in Louisville, KY.

All recipients will receive a certificate and medal and their names will be permanently recorded. The National FFA Organization provides leadership, per-

sonal growth and career success training through agricul- tural education to 579,678 student members in grades sev- en through twelve who belong to one of 7,570 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

A special congratulations to David and Billy, this is a very prestigious award.
