Florida Fair News

Citrus County Fair News The fall season is here. The live- stock projects have started their registrations. The grounds are hosting several

great events in October and November. We have a Circus, WPBR Barrel Race and the 19th Annual Stampede Rodeo coming. We invite everyone to come and enjoy. The 16th Annual Truck and

Tractor Pull is scheduled for January 30th and 31st, 2015. This event is loud and excit- ing and raises funds for our scholarship programs. The Citrus County Fair will be March 23rd through the 28th, 2015. Our

theme this

year is Celebrate and Edu- cate. We will have an enjoyable week with Livestock, Ex- hibitors, Entertainment, Midway and of course, Fair Food. Come see us!! We would like to welcome Cindi Halstead

to the Citrus County Fair Family. She is the new office secretary. We also want to wish Saundra Wilson

(at right) well in her retirement. Saundra worked in the office for 10 years. Thanks Saundra!! Submitted by: Hal Porter, Manager

2014 Fair. We are pleased that she has agreed to stay on as Superintendent for the 2015 fair. Job one after electing officers was committee assign-

ments. Next was a fresh start to planning hours of opera- tion, daily themes and promotions for our 29th Annual Fair. We just completed our budgeting process and will begin,

updating the rules for competitive exhibits, contacting sponsors, vendor partners, and updating our website, not to mention trying to stay active on Facebook and Twitter. Yes, there’s a lot to do in the “off season.” Our exciting new project for 2015 is to complete our new RV Park Project. This is a major expense but will allow us to move the carnival workers so we can expand our mid- way. We are desperately trying to get this done prior to the 2015 Fair. Our Board held an Appreciation Cookout for our 2015

Superintendents and Ex-Officio members in October. This is always a fun time to show appreciation and share our plans. This will be held in our Early Florida Village. We will be meeting with our Midway provider, Deggeller Attractions, in November at the Volusia County Fair to plan our armband promotions for 2015. We are optimistic about our 2015 Fair. If we are blessed

with good weather, we think we’ll set another new record. We hope your schedule will allow you to join us and help celebrate our 29th Anniversary, April 2-11, 2015.

The St. Lucie

County Fair will be celebrating it's 50th anni- versary

in 2015. Trying to in-

clude as much as we can in the celebration we have come up with "special projects" for our Home Arts Division. 1. Women's World-- Design and

make a laptop Quilt themed around the fair's 50th Anniver- sary. 2. Youth Art--Design a 50th logo for the Fair. 3. Youth Crafts--design a craft project themed around

“Farm Fresh Family Tradition” “Farm Fresh Family Tradition” will be our new theme at

the 29th Annual Clay County Agricultural Fair. The Fair is scheduled for April 2- 11, 2015 This is always an exciting time for us …a new Board was set at the end of June. They elected the officers as follows: Chairman

Vice Chairman Secretary Treasurer

year.

Wayne Heath Becky Trexler

Mary Lou Wilkinson Tony Tharp

We welcomed Jim Corbin as a new Board member this Due to term limits, Virginia Hall left the board after the

the 50th anniversary. 4. Crafty Men--Any project created by using old pallets. The pallet idea is a new one. I am sure many of you have

seen the many really cool items that have been built by using old pallets. Our display space is limited so we are putting this display under its own tent right outside the Home Arts Building. We are offering additional monetary awards for the above projects.

First Place is $150 Second Place $100 Third Place $ 50 Youth will receive the award monies, the adult award

monies will be donated to their favorite charities as we only pay money to the youth entries. As many Fairs have seen their "craft divisions" have fewer entries we thought by highlighting a hot new trend would be a way to in- crease entries.
