What A Great Idea! The Federation is continuing the “What a Great Idea

Contest” again this year! There was such a positive response to this contest last

year that the Federation has decided to continue it again this year. For those of you that were at the convention, you know

that the display of entries provided a great resource of “Great ideas.” We hope that this year we will have even more entries to display! The committee has already deter- mined that they will increase the size of the photos next year for an even better display. If you want to see the entries for last year and take ad- vantage of all those “great ideas” be sure to go to our website – www.floridafairs.org and look under General Info – Federation Contests. Here is a recap of the program: Concept: This contest is a “quick and easy” way to recog- nize all the great things our Florida Fairs are doing.

All it

takes is to send in pictures of “great ideas” that you see at other Fairs you visit or even a photo from your own Fair with a brief explanation of the concept. Rules: Each person can submit one photo from their own Fair and multiple photos from other Fairs. All photos must be from Florida Fairs. Entries must be emailed to bet- tye@southfloridafair.com by May 1st. Judging: Judging will be done by the attendees at the

annual Convention. Each attendee will be given a ballot at registration to vote for one “Great Idea.” Attendee cannot vote for the entry their Fair submitted, however, they can vote for an idea from their Fair submitted by another Fair Awards: 1st – 3rd place plaques will be awarded to the

“Great Idea” with the most votes. Awards will be an- nounced at the Convention. Each person submitting a “Great Idea” will have their name placed in a drawing for a gift card. So, get out your phones or cameras and take pictures of all those Fairs you visit as well as an idea from your own Fair and send them in!!!!!

Hall of Fame

and Associate of the Year Nominations

Each year the Florida Federation of Fairs honors individu- als that have had an impact on our industry and our Associ- ation through the Hall of Fame Award and the Associate of the Year Award. These prestigious awards are presented at the Annual Convention. Look around your Fair, there are those people who go quietly about their way, getting things done, always ready to lend a helping hand, answers a call for help with “how can I help you,” and gives the committee all the credit for a job well done. Take a little time, nominate that person for the Hall of Fame.

It is an honor that not one of the past

given by their peers. We ask your help in nominating deserving individuals for these awards.

Nomination forms can be requested from

the Federation office at lisahinton@floridafairs.org. The deadline for nominations is March 1st, 2015.

Federation Traveling Exhibits – Use the online reservation system

The Federation is pleased to provide our member Fairs with 4 different Traveling Exhibits. We encourage Fairs to utilize these wonderful, educational Exhibits. The Federation now has an online reservation system on our website, www.floridafairs.org under General Info – Traveling Exhibits. Be sure to check it out – it’s quick and easy to reserve any of these exhibits online!

"Milkable Cow"

There are two versions of this exhibit. Both exhibits are sponsored by the Florida Dairy Farmers. Both contain a life- size milkable cow, one exhibit travels in a self-contained trailer complete with educational signage and displays. The other exhibit is a free standing cow that was donated by the FDACS and also travels with educational signage. The Florida Dairy Farmers are working with us to further en- hance these two exhibits with hand outs, giveaways, and a video about the dairy industry.

"There’s A Cow In My Truck!" This "do it yourself" exhibit is sponsored by the Florida

Cattlewomen’s Association and portrays the parts of a truck that come from by-products of cattle. The Federation will provide any Fair with the templates to produce these signs yourself, then you just get a local truck dealer to provide a truck for the display. It makes a GREAT exhibit!

"Farmer For A Day" and "Milk Maker"

These exhibits are hands-on, inter-active exhibits that are designed to teach the public more about agriculture and where their food comes from. They are great – be sure to check them out!
