Shop till you drop With autumn in the air, the countdown to Christmas is getting closer and Maidstone is an ideal place to do some early shopping for the festive season. The town offers plenty of choice, making it the go-to destination when you are looking for something that little bit different. Maidstone boasts one of the largest
selection of independent retailers in the country. There is an eclectic mix of businesses selling a wide range of goods from jewellery to kitchenware, cakes to clothes that can be found in the streets just round the corner from the big multiples in the town centre. Leading off the High Street is Week
Street, the main pedestrianised shopping street with access to Fremlin Walk a stylish open air shopping centre
with many well-known fashion brands and flagship department store House of Fraser. Nearby is The Mall indoor shopping centre with a mix of national retailers and independent outlets. Small independents also abound in the Royal Star Arcade, Bank Street and Gabriels Hill or Market buildings. Stop off for a coffee or a bite to eat in one of the many cafes and restaurants in Earl Street or find some unique shops in Pudding Lane or Union Street. Most shops are open Monday to
Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11am to 4.30pm, with many also open for late night shopping every Thursday until 8pm. Maidstone market, held on Tuesday
and Saturday mornings, is also a great place to snap up a bargain.
