THE complex saga of Addington village green has finally come to a successful conclusion.


The problem arose because an-


cient bylaws banned anyone driv- ing over or parking on land designated as village green, and in Addington’s case, this included the trackway. The parish council could not be


seen to condone any driving over and parking on “the green”, either by residents or any other members of public, nor could it authorise any repairs. At a parish council meeting in


2012 members made an application to the Secretary of State for Envi- ronment, Food and Rural Affairs under Section 16 of the Commons Act 2006 for the trackway forming part of the green to be de-regis- tered. However, the Planning Inspec-


torate, which decides such applica- tions on behalf of the Secretary of State,would only consider applica- tions where land is offered in ex-

Pharmacy Sir John Stanley MP had wrien to Earl Howe (Parliamentary under- secretary for the Department of Health) to ask for an investigation and support for a pharmacy in Leybourne. Earl Howe had advised this was a legal maer and he was unable to assist. The chairman suggested the maer should still be pursued by Sir John in Parliament but if Sir John was not in agreement, perhaps this could be raised by other political parties. This proposed action was agreed.

Dog show The dog show will be on Sunday, September 28 at the Cricket Meadow next to the Rocfort Road car park. The show will start at about 11.15am and will finish at about 4pm with best in show. Cleaner dies at waste plant


A SNODLAND man was killed when a pile of waste fell on him as he worked at the recycling site at Blaise Farm Quarry, near Kings Hill. Neville Watson (39), of Lakeside,
