Business Focus Drive into Summer with David
DAVID Smart has a passion for seeing his learner drivers ripping up their L plates as soon as possible. He said: “I became a driving instructor because I wanted a job with real satisfaction
and there is nothing better than seeing someone pass their test first time. “I was also always being told by friends and work colleagues that I was a calm and relaxed type of person and that I would make a great driving instructor,” he added.
David was trained by Learner Driving Centres, which claim to save individuals about £450 in lesson costs.
According to Government figures, learners each buy on average 52 hours of driving
tuition. In total, those who passed had on average 67 hours of driving experience including practice with family or friends. But with LDC’s cutting-edge training materials and methods, the average number of hours to pass the test is closer to 30 - a potential saving of up to 22 hours. David said: “Everybody is different and the LD System allows for flexibility in lessons so that you learn to drive safely at a rate that suits you.”
For a limited period only David is offering the first five hours of driving lessons for only £60, plus the LD workbook worth £14.95 for just £10. This offer is not available to those nearing test standard. He added: “To help you decide which course would best suit you I provide a free, no obligation, home visit. At this meeting I explain to you how the LD System works and what each course provides.”

called to work full-time in parish ministry. Communities are full of networks these days and that is great, but parishes serve every person in the community, regard- less of who they are. “That sense of every person mat-
tering regardless is something which, for me, is the epitome of Christian faith." Rev Hugh Broadbent, Rector of Snodland, explained that the Rev Sue Brooks is a curate in the town. She is a long-term resident and an SSM (self-supporting minister). Mandy will be training as a stipen- diary minister and would be in Snodland for three to four years. He said: “I am delighted that Mandy is coming to serve as a cu- rate here in Snodland. Our town has the potential to be an excellent training parish. “I am not only sure that Mandy
will make a positive and valuable contribution to the life of our com- munity, but also hopeful that she will gain the knowledge and expe- rience she will need for her future ministry within the wider church.”
Local news for Snodland and Halling Pupils back walking bus charity

Mothers’ Union closes doors
THE Snodland branch of the Moth- ers’ Union has closed after its membership dropped to 11. All members, past and present, were invited to the morning prayer serv- ice at Christ Church. Treasurer JuneWright told Town
Talk that the remaining funds were used to buy 10 children's bibles to commemorate being part of the church for over 30 years. A gift was also made to Mary Sumner House inWestminster. June was treasurer formore than
11 years and remembers when there were 25 members. She said: "When itwas started byMary Sum- ner it was the social event of the month, the only chance to get to- gether to chat and have coffee. “You are only supposed to be in
office for four years but no one would take over from me. We tried working with a committee but that didn't work. We are all very sad. I have been a member for 28 years and we have had some very good times.”
