First for Hebei Yihoucheng in China with tissue machine start up

Chinese papermaker Hebei Yihoucheng is first in the country to start using a PrimeLineCOMPACT tissue machine with a steel Yankee supplied by Austria’s Andritz. The machine has a design speed of 1,650m/min and a width of

2.85m. The Yankee, manufactured entirely of steel, has a diameter of 3.65m. Says Tian Yuwei, general manager of Hebei Yihoucheng, “The smooth start-up was further confirmation that we had chosen the right partner in Andritz.

The energy-efficient drying and excellent operating safety of the Yankee are particularly impressive.”

The tissue machine and

components (the order also included supply of the complete stock preparation

plant, automation, and drives) were manufactured at Andritz production sites in Europe and China.

Metso automation for Pratt’s paper recycling mill

Pratt Industries, which operates what is said to be the world’s most technologically advanced paper recycling mill at Valparaiso in Indiana has ordered a large automation system from Metso for its PM16 packaging paper line. The order includes a Metso

DNA automation system and a Metso IQ quality control system equipped with a Metso IQ Dilution Profiler for a dilution headbox and a Metso IQ Moisturizer system for moisture profiling. “This mill will be a showcase of 21st century recycling technology, resulting in the best

performing recycled paper on the market,” said Anthony Pratt, chairman of Pratt Industries. “At capacity, the mill will save the equivalent of some 20,000 trees and divert up to 3,500 cubic yards of waste from landfills every day. Pratt Industries claims

to be the US’s fifth-largest

corrugated packaging company and the world’s largest privately-held 100 per cent recycled paper and packaging company, with more than 4,400 employees. Pratt Industries was founded in the USA 25 years ago and has manufacturing facilities in more than 20 states.
