Reduce environmental impact with these roll lubrication showers
A
n easy upgrade for suction roll lubrication showers is aimed at paper makers
looking for reductions in their environmental impact. “Valmet’s new SealFlo
technology reduces water consumption by as much as 50 per cent, while maintaining or improving lubrication results,” says Pekka Kivioja, director of Roll Maintenance at Valmet. Worn, aged and outdated

Wider tissue line applications for portable device
ProCare has improved its ProTablet portable device with applications that are tailored to an entire tissue production operation. The training and support division of Futura, ProCare launched the original ProTablet to enable the use and management of maintenance documentation by offering access to continuously updated documentation for all Futura tissue converting equipment in one rugged, portable device. The new ProTablet can now host a wide array of applications, from warehousing to maintenance, and as such has become a total

management tool that can be personalised to the operation’s needs. It can be linked to an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to provide fully interactive management on the move.
As with the original ProTablet,
customers can access exploded views and detailed procedural videos with ease. By scanning a barcode on the relevant component with ProTablet’s built in reader, the user can call up all documentation and other resources relevant to the task at hand.
The new ProTablet has full PC functionality, and can be
docked and integrated with the Customer’s own IT system, or linked to a projector for professional training. ProTablet can also be used to send spare parts requests direct to ProCare or an internal purchasing office. ProCare manager Alessandro Viani said: “This new version of ProTablet has condensed a host of essential ingredients into the

significantly reduced water consumption. In addition to improved lubrication results, many applications show an improved
moisture profile and reduced costs of shower water preparation. Kivioja gives an example: “On a paper or board machine, this could mean savings of as much as 2,500 to 5,000 euros per roll meter per year, resulting in average savings of 100,000 to 200,000 euros a year on a ten-meter wide machine that has four suction rolls.” The improved shower functionality also has a positive effect on the lifespan of the axial seal and on the suction roll shell.
