tion say that the pain feels like a hot poker being stuck in the eye or that the eye is being pushed out of its socket. Dangerous Headaches

Here are some other headache “red flag” signs that should alert you to get medical at- tention immediately:

• Headaches that get worse over time or occur 3+ times per week • “Worst headache of my life.” • Severe headaches that start suddenly. • Severe headache that begins with, but persists after head or neck trauma. • Headaches triggered by exertion, cough- ing, bending, or sexual activity.

• You have a stiff neck and/or fever, in addition to a headache.

• Dizziness, unsteadiness, slurred speech, weakness, or numbness and/or tingling are present, in addition to your headache.

• Severe headaches in a person with certain medical problems, including high blood pressure or cancer.

• Severe headaches accompanied by vomiting, limb weakness, double vision, slurred speech, or difficulty swallowing.

The treatment of headaches can range

from over the counter NSAIDS, to pre- scription medications, to massage therapy, acupuncture or spinal manipulation to name a few. I have obtained very favorable results using spinal manipulation, therapy modali- ties, stretching, nutritional counseling, pos- tural and ergonomic recommendations and therapeutic exercise with patients who suffer from headaches. While results do vary, the majority of patients demonstrate a substantial amount of improvement with care. If you or some one you know suffers from recurring headaches, urge them to seek care, because they are not something “you have to live with.”
