Beef Crostini was amazing with a unique twist including rare beef tenderloin, tomato, avocado, cilantro, mint, sesame seeds, arugula, miso dressing, and sourdough crostini. And in keeping with the farm-to-table trend, try the Cottage Burger with all natural Pineland farms ground beef, candied bacon, port salute cheese, brioche roll, crispy onions and chef’s three bees honey-bourbon barbeque sauce with potato salad. Everything was amazing! They also have some interesting wine tasting dinners throughout the year as well. One of the few properties that remains

open year-round, the York Harbor Inn is doing its part in protecting the environment. The York Harbor Inn has been certified by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection as an Environmental Leader by implementing programs to:

• Save energy • Conserve water • Minimize/reduce waste via composting and recycling • Use environmentally preferable cleaners • Purchase local food • Growing their own herbs

• Educate the staff and guests on reducing environmental impact

• Recycling bins in guest rooms • Black hand towels for makeup removal • The Tavern was built out of sustainable wood • Harvest honey from their own apiary • Offer ecofriendly weddings where all trash is separated for recycling

All in all, the staff and owners take great pride in the natural preservation of the houses and landscape.

What I found that really sets the York Harbor Inn apart from other properties was the friendliness and so evident passion of the staff. From the front desk to the wait staff to the general manager, it was clear that these people loved their jobs and the Inn. That’s not some- thing you see too often, but it makes all the difference to the guest staying there. York Harbor has always been one of

Maine’s loveliest and least-crowded seaside resorts. Surrounded by oceanfront estates, the harbor escaped the commercialization that altered some of Maine’s better-known resorts. If you’re looking for peace, relaxation and rejuvenation…look no further than the York Harbor Inn.
