Choose Happiness
we get what we think we want (new car, more stuff, a new relation- ship etc), the satisfaction lasts a short time and then we are on to something else to feel fulfi llment. We are always expanding as hu- man beings so desires are not the issue, rather the tendency to seek relief outside ourselves and in the future is what can be problem- atic. With awareness though, stepping off the hamster wheel can be done easily with this two part solution. First, realize that it is not the specifi c thing or situation that will

make you happy, but it is a feeling that you are reaching for. After contemplating, you can acknowledge that you have the ability to choose to experience those emotions without having to control or change your circumstances. Second, use the transitions in your day as opportunities to prac- tice those feelings and emotions. Simply breathe and feel gratitude. Implement this by choosing 3-7 times during the day to devote at

least one minute (3-5 minutes is better) on focused breathing and thoughts of things you have now that you feel grateful for. Close your eyes, breathe deeply and bring to mind all the wonderful things/people you have in your life. Do this before getting out of bed in the morning, before falling asleep at night and at a few more pivotal time throughout your day (getting in and out of the car, be- fore turning on your computer at work, before your commute home and before eating meals). You will not only get the cleansing benefi ts of deeper breath- ing, but the act of appreciation allows you to be in the NOW and HAPPY in your life without needing more of anything. Integrate this simple and powerful daily practice to experience immediate bal- ance and clarity.

The Secret to a Happy Marriage: A Your Side, Your Way Mattress I
n honor of wedding season, The Clean Bedroom has just an- nounced its secret to a happy marriage: a Your Side, Your Way Mattress. “A 200-pound side sleeper married to a 110-pound back sleeper shouldn’t sleep on the same mattress,” says Chris Chamber- lin, co-founder and co-owner of The Clean Bedroom. “Choosing an organic mattress with customizable confi gurations—meaning a bed that might be fi rm on one side and soft on the other—ensures both spouses sleep well. And, as many know, a great night’s sleep cures all kinds of marital discord.” “We only recommend products that meet our high standards for eco-friendly materials, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional value,” says Chamberlin. The Clean Bedroom’s picks for customiz- able mattresses include the Duo OrganicPedic® Mattress by OMI; the Serenity Mattress by Savvy Rest; the EOS Organic Mattress by Naturepedic; the Dolcezza, Nature’s Nest, and Vicence by Green Sleep; and the Oyasumi line of mattresses, made exclusively for The
Water and Your Pet
ith the warm days of summer upon us, keeping hydrated is just as important to your pets as it is to you. Pets, like people, can become dehydrated in the heat of summer which can lead to damage of major organs such as the liver, heart and kidney. Without water the body will start to shut down.

Water is essential for: • Removal of wastes from the body • Digestion • Joint movement • Regulation of body temperature • Absorption of nutrients • Circulation
Feeding a raw diet to your dog or cat is not only more natural than kibble diets; it can also help
keep your animals hydrated as raw diets are naturally 70% moisture. Despite the type of diet your pet is on, access to fresh, clean water at all times is essential. Provide small frequent amounts of water after exercise. Gulping large amounts of water following heavy exercise can result in vomiting and can also potentially be a contributing factor to bloat, a life threatening condition. Dogs that are stressed or exer- cised/worked heavily can be given electrolyte replenishers which will recharge and replenish electrolyte levels. Visit Oma’s Pride - Pet Food as Nature Intended at

ized healthy mattress, one-third of your married life can be happy, with no extra effort,” says Chamberlin. “It kind of makes you think wedding vows should be to love, honor, and get a great night’s sleep. To that end, we believe a new Your Side, Your Way Mattress may be the easiest way to maintain or reclaim that honeymoon magic.”
