The Little Things

SUBMITTED BY JEFF SWEER, SWEET SOUNDS, MANKATO, MINN.

For the overall design, the install- ers wanted to avoid filling the “tunnel” area in the hatch. Most 350z’s have that area either filled with subs or amps, and they wanted to be able to view the entire audio system from either inside the front of the car or outside from the back. The design allowed them to show off the whole system at once, which is ideal for car shows.

The subwoofer trim rings were spe- cially made to replace the rubber gaskets for the woofers. The rings added a unique and clean touch to the hatch area and were painted to match the rest of the system/vehicle. The team used this same technique on the rear speakers. In total, they added 2 Focal FPS-4160 amps, 2 Focal SubP30 subwoofers, 1 set of Focal PS165 components in the front and 1 set of IC165 speakers in the rear.
