I can’t believe that it’s already March – where have the fi rst two months of this year gone?

If you didn’t already know (how could you not?!) this year the Centre is 10 years old and we’ve got some REALLY exciting plans!!. The year began with our annual Youth Burns Supper – what a fantastic night. It was actually my fi rst ever Burns Supper and I loved it. The 20 young people involved did an incredible job and did everyone proud. This year we had a special guest giving the Immortal Memory, the Rt Hon Alex Salmond, First Minister of Scotland, who said of the event, “The Dunblane Centre Youth Burns event is a spectacular celebration of Robert Burns, a worldwide cultural icon, loved the world o’er. It’s fantastic to see younger generations fully appreciate his global contribution in such a great community setting.” A massive congratulations goes to the six young people who accompanied Nancy to the Perth Festival. They all did tremendously well. A special mention to Holly Jarvis and Hamish Diamond who both won cups for recitation – a great start to the year.

So we’ve kicked off our programme of events and investment marking the Centre’s 10th anniversary (which is on September 25th). Among the highlights for the year are the Show of Shows on March 21st and 22nd; Funday Sunday on 21st September and the Tartan Ball on St Andrews night, 30th November at Stirling Castle – hosted by Scotland’s First Minister. Keep an eye out for some of the other projects including a book and fi lm production, the refurbishment of the some of the Centre’s key areas including the youth area, music room, kitchen and juice bar and some exciting ideas for the outside space.

If you’d like to get involved with any of the 10th anniversary

projects or for more information follow us on www.Facebook.com/dunblanecentre, visit our website www.dunblanecentre.co.uk or contact Gemma.

Our next big 10th anniversary event is the Show of Shows, taking place on 21st and 22nd March. This ambitious project sees Pamela and the team reprising parts of all the shows held over the last nine years: Show in a Week, concerts, pantos – everything! Tickets are available from the Centre or online at www.theatreindunblane.co.uk. Tickets are priced at £8 adult and £5 concession. There are discounts available to large groups (get in touch with Gemma for more info on this). With everything from Seussical, Aladdin and Into the Woods to Return to Forbidden Planet, Annie and Beauty and the Beast this is not to be missed.

Send us your stories, pictures or other memories from the last 10 years To celebrate this year we want to hear from you! Each month we will be displaying people’s memories, stories and photos. What are your fondest, funniest, strangest memories of the Centre? Do you have any old pictures; did you have a birthday party here; or take part in one of the events/shows? We would LOVE you send these in to us and we’ll use them in the Wire, on the website, on Facebook and within the Centre. You can post them to Gemma Greer, Dunblane Centre, Stirling Road, Dunblane, FK15 9EY or you can email them to gemma@dunblanecentre.co.uk

Volunteers: We’re looking for some volunteers with some very special skills … funding applications! We’ve got lots of ideas and are looking at lots of grants to make these ideas a reality. If you have this unique set of skills and have some time you can give to the Centre, we’d love to hear from you. Contact pam@dunblanecentre.co.uk for more information.
