10-23 FEB Te Norwich Dragon Festival 2014 Venues around Norwich

Get ready to feel the heat of over 70 events bringing the myth, magic, fire and fantasy of dragons to venues across Norwich. Trilling public reaction to the 2009 and 2011 festivals fuelled Norwich’s Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust (HEART) to introduce the Dragon Festival again this year. Highlights include Dragon Heart Beats, an incredible smoke-breathing, fire- throwing dragon performance outside Te Forum on Sat 15th, 2pm / 5:45pm.

Norwich Rising – ‘Drum for Justice’ Outside the Forum

14 FEB

Take a stand. Make a noise. Tat’s the simple message from the Norwich Rising faction of the global One Billion Rising movement. An annual event highlighting the atrocious statistic that one in three women will experience some form of violence against her in her lifetime, the members of Norwich Rising will be inviting “women and those who love them to take part in a flash mob drumming sensation using pots, pans, whisks, spoons, old biscuit tins etc. to focus on how we can work toward ending violence against women”, says organiser, Eloise O’Hare. Money will be raised on the day for local charity, Leeway. Take one moment to picture the safety and respect of your mother, daughter, sister, girlfriend or friend and then go and show your support on the 14th. www.norwichrising.wordpress.com. Tanks to Eloise and Ann Nicholls for the images.

SUNDAYS DJ Madhatter (NME) Fat Cat and Canary

Sunday nights get some musical authority slapped upon them as ex- NME journo and London reggae legend DJ Madhatter hits the Fat Cat & Canary for a Sunday night residency. Having toured with Bob Marley's partner Peter Tosh with his ground-breaking group the Anti Social Workers, DJ Madhatter (Paul Wellings) brings his unique show of reggae classics to the Norwich favourite local. He says, “I know my music and hope to give the fine citizens of Norwich a chilled party vibe playing reggae classics that people want with no obscure musical snobbery.” Starts Feb 2nd onwards, from 6-10pm weekly.
