OH NO IT ISN’T… December: a time for frantic last-minute shopping, a time for turkey, Brussels sprouts and yule log and – inevitably – a time for panto. Tis year’s offering of slapstick, cross-dressing and crazy costumes at Norwich Teatre Royal is that quintessential pantomime Cinderella, running from December 17 – January 19, and features stars from the world of music, soap, sitcom and musical theatre. Matt Milburn, a familiar face from Emmerdale and Hollyoaks and playing the part of Prince Charming, is anticipating his return to Norwich after starring in the city’s Shakespeare Festival at the Cathedral. He said: “It is lovely to be back and it is nice to know my return will be in the slightly more relaxed atmosphere of a pantomime playing Prince Charming. It’s a great character to play.” As the refined Royal, Matt will be performing opposite the likes of co-stars soul diva and former Tree Degree Sheila Ferguson, stage and TV favourite Christopher Ryan (Mike in Te Young Ones, Marshall inAbsolutely Fabulous) and Norwich Teatre Royal panto favourite Richard Gauntlett. And Matt reveals that the buzz of being on stage is boosted by the unique audience interaction you get from pantomime. “On stage, you get that fantastic instant response and pantomime is the one genre where it is maintained through the whole performance, which makes it one of the most fun things you can do,” he said. “Tis year’s pantomime Cinderella is going to be a cracker and there are little twists and turns in there. It is going to be a spectacular extravaganza and I am proud to be a part of it.

RUSSELL UP A TASTY PRIZE He’s one of the hottest young comics on the circuit, describing himself as a “Jedward-haired award-winning t**t” and he’s coming to Norwich. To celebrate Russell coming to Norwich Teatre Royal, we’ve teamed up with the venue to exclusively give

away some of his goodies. Te winner will receive two Russell Kane t-shirts and a Russell Kane mug.
