as new Board members this year. Due to term limits, Johnny Mack Smith, Max VanFossen, and

Glenn Lassiter left the board after the 2013 Fair. We are pleased that each of them has agreed to stay on as Superintendents for the 2014 Fair. We are proud to report that the following board members attend-

ed the Summer Workshop this year in Jacksonville: Becky Trexler, Virginia Hall, Sheryl Hartzog, Robin Huskey, Rick Rivers, Derrell Kelly, and Mary Lou Wilkinson. That’s more than half of our board and included all new members. Karen Brown and Pete Sutton also attended. Job one after electing officers was committee assignments.

Next was a fresh start to planning hours of operation, daily themes and promotions for our 28th Annual Fair. We just completed our budgeting process and will begin, updat-

ing the rules for competitive exhibits, contacting sponsors, vendor partners, and updating our website, not to mention trying to stay active on Facebook and Twitter. Yes, there’s a lot to do in the “off season”. We also were proud to help our Clay County Public Safety get a

The Collier County Fair hosted the 2nd Annual Big Swamp Smoke Off, Octo- ber 18 & 19, 2013. This event was sponsored by the Collier County Fair and the Florida BBQ Association. We are thankful for the all cook teams and vendors that came out for this great family event. We would also like to thank all the volunteers who gave so

much of their time for the success of this event. For information on next year’s event please go to bigswampcookoff.com. During the month of October the Collier County Fair hosted

our Haunted “GROSS” Walk. This was a haunted walk through our livestock pavilion that was turned into an insane asylum. All proceeds benefited the Life’s Not “Fair” Fund. It was a Spooktac- ular event!!! A HUGE thank you to the volunteers who put in end- less hours during the Haunted “GROSS” Walk. The Collier County Fair is in the works scheduling more excit-
