Chamber of Commerce might just help you find the solution you need. Te service aims to provide a ‘one-stop shop’


to help Chamber member businesses with the recruitment process and give them access to all the public sector grants that are available to help fund their newest member of staff.


Funding available in Glasgow


As illustrated, there are a number of sources of funding available to businesses within the city of Glasgow. Te range of funding and support


programmes available through Glasgow City Council oſten fund up to 50 per cent of the salary of an unemployed or underemployed Glasgow resident. Encouraging businesses to invest in our local talent ultimately keeps Glasgow ahead of the game when it comes to maximising and retaining our skilled workforce in the city. Te Commonwealth Initiatives, which include the Commonwealth Graduate, Youth, Apprentice and Jobs Funds, provide targeted training and financial support to encourage businesses to create new jobs. Te Workforce Solutions team can put you


in touch with free professional recruitment services run by Jobs and Business Glasgow or Te Wise Group, which both offer a complete recruitment service from initial advertisement through to feedback to successful and unsuccessful clients. Tere are opportunities for businesses to


provide work experience to 18-24 year olds. Tey can also take advantage of a work trial, which gives them the chance to test out a would-be employee’s suitability for a specific vacancy at no cost. In addition to this general support, specific


assistance is available for particular industrial sectors via Sector-Based Work Academies. Te academies are designed to help meet the current and future needs of employers in the specific sector concerned and to help employers recruit a skilled workforce. Te upskilling of existing staff is crucial for staff development and to encourage


Santander Graduate Internship


• Recruit a talented graduate to undertake a three-month internship • Salary is match-funded by Santander – both the business and Santander provide £1,500 towards salary.


Glasgow Veterans


Employment Programme • Employ an veteran and receive a


50 per cent wage subsidy of up to £6,500 • Salary is based on 50 per cent of the £7.50 Glasgow Living Wage


• The fund may pay for additional training required to ensure the veterans meet the minimum criteria for the job.


Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Flexible


Training Opportunities •Up skill existing staff members


•Up to 50 per cent towards each episode of employee training


•Businesses can receive up to a maximum of £500 for up to 10 employees.
