Award for blooming business
AFARMING mother who has established her own floristry business is the winner of the 2013 Welsh Livery Guild Young Farmer Award. The award seeks to support young people who are trying to secure afuture forthemselves in agriculture and the panel of judges decided that 34-year-old Rebecca Morris, from Oswestry deserved the £1,000 award. Rebecca runs ‘Becca
Fleur Floral Design’ from home,giving her the opportunity to spend as muchtime as possible with her twoyoung
sons.After arranging wedding flowers forfriends and family, Rebecca received many recommendations,which has been the foundation for her business. Rebecca said: “In winning
this award Ihope it will not onlypromote my business through publicity involved butalso help me financially to set up awebsite and des- ignated workspace formy
business.Being afarmer’s daughter as well as a farmer’s wife Ilovebeing abletoplan my flower business work around the farm diary allowing me to help out on the family farms.Iwould actively encourage young people from afarming background to look at ways of diversifying.” Rebecca received her
award at the RoyalWelsh Show.

Co-op deal rests with shareholders

Wynnstayhas entered into acon- ditional agreement to buyall of CPF Ltd’sbusiness and assets, butthe deal needs the approval of the co-operative members before it can go ahead. Aresolution needs to be
passed at aspecial general meet- ing on August 21st, followedby another resolution at asecond meeting on September 11th. Morethan half of CPF’stotal ordinary members whoare enti- tled to vote would have to register avote at the August meeting and the resolution would have to be approved by at least three quar- ters of those whoactuallyvote, either in person or by proxy. If this processissuccessful, a
majority must vote in favour of the resolution at the second meet- ing.

Wynnstayexpects the acquisition to be completed at the end of September. Paul Rogers,managing direc-
tor of CPF Ltd said the deal offered a‘very positive move’for shareholders and customers. He said: “The regional farm-
ing community is being chal- lenged every daywith changing climatic patterns and increasing financial
pressures.Joining Wynnstaywill allowustomain- tain our corevalues of customer service and support in an ever- changing marketplace,while opening up other opportunities and products to our customer base.” Thedeal would not include
CPF Ltd’sfreehold properties, which arecurrentlyvalued at £4.6 million. These cannot be sold
unless CPF Ltd demutualises from an industrial and provident society into aprivate limited companyand this would have to be approved by the co-operative’s members. Anynew companycreated by
the demutualisation would retain the freehold properties and lease them to Wynnstay. The money held by this companywould fund the final salary pension scheme. CPF Ltd has been trading
since 1903 and nowhas seven stores
at Cardigan,
Haverfordwest, Carmarthen,
Crosshands,Llandeilo, Llandovery and St
Clears.Inthe year ending September 30th 2012, it suffered losses of more than £800,000. Wynnstayoperates anetwork
of 32 country stores across Wales,the Welsh Border Counties and beyond, specialis- ing in animal healthcareand ani- mal nutrition products,clothing, hardware, gardening and sports products. It believesthe acquisition of

Good news for machinery ring members
