31 AUG-01 SEPT 2013Alex James’ Farm, The Cotswolds THE BIG FEASTIVAL I

f you’ve had your lugholes more than stuffed already this summer, it might be time to turn your attention to filling your other orifices at the end of this month. We are talking, of course, about your eye sockets, hooter and pie

holes. Te man who has revolutionised our eating habits, Ye Grande Defeator of Turkey Twizzler, Jamie Oliver invites us all to Alex James’ farm – the cheese loving indieswoonfest one off of Blur – for a bit of a food love-in, complete with musical soundtrack, demonstrations, funfair and, knowing our Jay Jay – a whole heap of banter. Being a family man, there’s attention paid to satisfying all ages, with a fun-filled Little Dudes Den, arts and crafts workshops, Big Top games and vintage funfair. Te music is a pukka, pukka compliment – or condiment – to the proceedings, with laid back offerings from Dodgy, Lianne La Havas, KT Tunstall, being ramped up slightly by headliners Basement Jaxx. But the real reason for slinging your tent in the back of the motor is for the food, which takes a festival-heavy slash over the usual fodder-in-a-field. Jamie’s four restaurant chains are being repped, while the Street Food Alley promises a plethora of tastes, and other pitch-holders, like Brindian (British and Indian fusion) promise to leave you full to bursting. 13-15 SEPT 2013 Somewhere near Peterborough BOOM BAP FESTIVAL W

hen four unique and resilient forces come together - a fusion of creativity, power and knowledge – a greater, untouchable element is created. And that, my friends, is called Hip Hop. Boom Bap UK fell to the

earth with a mighty boom last year, giving us year one of the festival that combined those four elements: the MC, the DJ, Graffiti and Breakdancing to devastating effect, making a name for itself faster than Katie Price coming out of a divorce settlement court and straight onto Match.com. Tis year promises to deliver once more as the UK’s only Hip Hop Festival – brought to you in association with Norwich’s own Roots ‘n’ Culture operation – piles on the party with more acts on more stages, repping the best on the scene at this moment. It’s three days of the freshest talent from within the UK Hip-Hop scene including MCs, DJs, producers, graffiti writers, B-Boys and B-Girls, beatboxers, spoken word poets, clothing companies and record labels, for your enjoyment. Te line- up this year sees where the bar was placed last year and smashes it, with big name performances from Skinnyman, Rodney P, Dirty Dike and a hundred more proudly making up the bill. You can get your mitts on all this goodness for the modest sum of £70 per weekend ticket, so for the extensive line-up list, and all the essential 411 on the festival, go to www.boombapuk.com
