Why Study Science When You Can DO Science?

Science education no longer means studying past discoveries made by other people. Today at OES, students still learn from the past, but they also make original discoveries themselves. Using the scientific method, they formulate a hypothesis, design an experiment, analyze the results, draw conclusions, and present their findings in public forums.

For 30 years, Dr. William G. Lamb

developed that approach at OES and helped spread it to other schools in Portland and the nation. Dr. Lamb retired last year, but his work is being carried on and augmented by a new endowment created by the parents of an OES graduate. The proceeds from this endowment will catalyze initiatives that will propel science research to a higher level.

Alumnae/i, parents, and

others are invited to join this effort with a contribution to the Dr. William G. Lamb Science Endowment to further the work he pioneered at OES that lets students actually DO science instead of just studying it.

The Bell Society honors and recognizes individuals who have established an endowment during their lifetime and/or provided for Oregon Episcopal School through their estate plans.
